Camellia Award

The Camellia Award, named in honor of the 17th century Jesuit botanist George Camel, S.J., was presented from 1965 to 1991 to a woman who showed "concern and compassion for humanity through dedicated and responsible service to charitable, educational, and cultural needs of society." Virginia Galvin Piper was the first recipient of the award in 1965 for her devotion to youth-serving agencies. In 2002 the Camellia Award became the Coffey Award.
