Voyage de la Louisiane, fait par ordre du roy en l’année mil sept cent vingt . . . (Paris, 1728)
Record of a scientific expedition to chart and explore the coasts of Madeira, Martinique, Saint Dominique (Haiti), Cuba, Little Cayman Island, Pensacola, Louisiana and Dauphin Island. The first part of the work is the journal of the expedition to Louisiana, kept by the captain of the expedition; the second part consists of Laval’s analysis and commentary on the scientific data gathered in the course of the journey. Laval was royal professor of mathematics and hydrography at Toulon and Marseilles.
