Grammars - Carochi
Horacio Carochi, d. 1662
Compendio del arte de la lengua Mexicana…(Mexico City, 1759)
Carochi taught at the Jesuit college in Tepotzotlán, Mexico, where he was one of the few priests to master the native languages of Mazahua, Nahuatl, and Otomí. First published in 1645, his Arte de la lengua Mexicana was often reprinted, and is still an essential tool of Nahuatl philology. This version was edited by the Jesuit Ignacio Paredes.
