Promoting Polish Heritage

Donation List, 1981.jpg

This list of donations made in 1981 is an excellent example of the diversity of organizations the Legion supports.

Shifting some of its efforts away from Poland, the Legion has focused a significant amount of donations to causes closer to home since the 1950s. Part of the purpose of this shift has been to ensure that Polish culture, heritage, and traditions retain a strong presence within the Polish-American community in Chicago and across the country.

The Legion’s emphasis on Polish heritage in the United States is explored in the following sections: Polish Literature Chair at the University of Chicago, Polish Cultural Organizations, and Education.
