His attendance at the Joyce Kilmer Elementary School on Greenview Avenue was verified by the following report in the school’s newsletter Kilmer News in March 1934. From this we assume Gorey was in fifth grade in 1933/34 at the Kilmer School. There is no other archival information available.
“What’s the News?
On Wednesday, February 21st, Ted Gorey of room 309, celebrated his ninth birthday which was February 22nd, with a party in his room. Ice cream, cookies and candy were furnished by his mother, and all the pupils had a very good time.”
