A hand-colored map of Paraguay, titled “Newest Description of the Paraguay Province of the Society of Jesus, and surrounding area.” The engraving is based on a manuscript drawing by unidentified Jesuit missionaries, and shows the location of Spanish towns, Jesuit “reductions” or mission settlements, and the sites of cities and missions destroyed during the course of war with native peoples.
